Creating a dedicated space for users to manage their travel plans
Many trips are planned and managed on Maps every day, both in advance and in the moment. The app has a vast amount of data for planning travel but doesn’t offer a good way to build multi-day itineraries. To address this need, we developed the Trips tab to give users easy access to their lists, routes and trip plans from anywhere in the app.

Our research showed that people think it is exhausting to collect suggestions for places to visit and turn them into an itinerary that everyone likes. Maps’ trip planning makes it easy to add and vote on places to visit in a list of suggestions. Once everyone has voted for the places they are interested in, the app generates an intelligent itinerary that optimizes the trip to consider as many preferences as possible while satisfying constraints such as time available, opening hours and typical visitor load.

After spending his time in high school performing as an Opera singer and sketching interfaces in class, he studied Technology and Human-Computer Interaction at Università Bocconi, Milan and the University of California, Berkeley. He has since built products at both unicorns and early stage startups in Fintech, SaaS, and AI.
